  • Exploration and Prospect Generation

GF&A has extensive experience with interpretation techniques and skills utilized to identify potential resources, determine associated risks, and quantify their impacts. The team has working knowledge of multiple basins across the United States, including all Rocky Mountain basins, Paradox, Illinois, Los Angeles, Permian, San Juan, & Appalachian. We have also evaluated basins overseas.
  • Expert Geologic Testimony

GF&A's geologists are licensed by the Wyoming Board of Professional Geologists. GF&A provides geologic exhibits and expert geologic testimony for the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, BLM, DEQ and legal proceedings. We are continually working with clients to supply geologic support for applications for injection/aquifer exemptions, unitization, spacing and APDs.
  • Federal Exploratory and Secondary Recovery Units

GF&A has extensive experience with Federal Exploratory Units and Secondary Recovery Units with both the BLM and the WOGCC.
  • Geologic Wellsite Supervision and Geosteering

GF&A's wellsite geologists are well versed in vertical and horizontal well site supervision for conventional, unconventional and coal bed methane wells. Because of our experience with local geology and understanding of field operations, we have the ability to provide necessary support to field personnel to enhance their ability to make proper geologic interpretations, thereby minimizing adverse economic impacts caused by geologic uncertainty. GF&A routinely provides office supervision and geologic directional guidance for horizontal operations.
  • Seismic Interpretation

GF&A is experienced in interpreting 2D, 3D & 4D seismic. Services encompass initial planning through data field acquisition, seismic processing supervision, data interpretation and utilization for evaluating and developing prospects. This mapping is used for exploration/development includes structural, stratigraphic, isochron, isochore, fault, structural trap volumetric determination, attribute analysis, etc.
  • Petrophysical Analysis

GF&A is experienced in advanced log interpretation techniques in clastic, carbonate, conventional and unconventional reservoirs. When possible, GF&A uses an integrated approach, combining log characteristics with core and sample characteristics, to provide a customized interpretation based on observed data. In addition, we analyze nearby production to better aid in casing point decisions on exploratory and development wells.
  • Water Disposal/Injection

Injection is a critical activity that often coincides with hydrocarbon production. Whether you are injecting for wastewater disposal purposes or utilizing injection for secondary/enhanced recovery, our geologists and engineers can assist with determination of an optimal target interval, identifying associated geologic and engineering risks, and provide geologic and engineering comments and exhibits necessary to apply for permits from the DEQ, EPA and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
  • Acquisition and Divestiture Analysis

Mitigating risk by properly evaluating assets is key to being successful in an acquisition or divestiture. GF&A assists in identifying assets and assessing their potential based on surrounding geology and proved production. We screen potential acquisitions, highgrade prospects and attend data rooms with clients to assist in geologic evaluation and critical analysis. We independently quantify the assets potential in order to give advise to our clients when requested or necessary.

Acquisition - Evaluation of potential resource and assistance in reserve classification in conjunction with engineers through independent geologic analysis.

Divestiture - GF&A maximizes potential value on non-producing properties through geologic analysis of the divesting properties/leases.

  • Reservoir Simulation Modeling

GF&A's petroleum engineers use Computer Modeling Group (CMG) software to create sophisticated primary and secondary oil recovery simulations in conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Our models can predict the effect of drilling new wells, forecast production by varying injection patterns, and estimate the remaining recoverable oil and gas in a field.
  • Reservoir Development

GF&A uses an integrated development plan that incorporates interpreted geologic mapping to highgrade formations and outline the extents of a prospects potential. The typical process of reservoir development involves prospect evaluation, development planning and drilling execution and reservoir engineering. GF&A staff collaborate to design well spacing and strategies for appropriate hydrocarbon drainage. Programs are customized based on the needs of the client and the data available for the given project.
  • Reservoir Evaluation

Quantification of hydrocarbon potential is essential to determine economic viability of any development or exploration prospect. The size of the reservoir study can be anywhere from a macro level on a regional basin wide scale down to a micro level involving pore throat sizes in core analysis. Our geologists and engineers use critical analysis and integration methods to develop interpretations thereby create a greater understanding of the prospective or productive reservoir to the client.
  • Property & Estate Evaluation

GF&A evaluates properties and estates for both industry and private individuals. Evaluations are typically used for acquisition/disposition determinations and tax valuation purposes. GF&A evaluates properties and estates in Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
  • Field Trips

GF&A's location in central Wyoming allows us access to producing reservoirs exposed at the surface. We have guided various companies on field trips illustrating the Frontier, Niobrara, Mowry and Parkman formations among others. Also, we have a working knowledge of geology across the state and can introduce clients to analog reservoirs in which they have interest.
  • Data Collection

GF&A's proximity to the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, BLM Casper office and the Casper Log Library gives us the ability to retrieve many documents that are not available online. Having this immediate resource at our fingertips can be an incredible asset when it comes to interpretive mapping.
  • ArcGIS Mapping and GIS Services

Leasehold mapping, geologic mapping, and drilling activity are just a few examples of maps that we are able to produce for clientele. In addition to simple mapping, GF&A utilizes ArcGIS to perform complex analysis not generally possible with other geologic software to better identify, assess and illustrate geologic risk.
  • Geologic Database

Throughout our consulting career, GF&A has assembled a large geologic database over areas studied. This database has been used throughout our history by GF&A and also by various companies to leverage their time and understanding of Wyoming reservoir geology.
  • Custom Programming

GF&A has extensive experience in programming and data analysis to aid in geologic and engineering evaluations. GF&A has written many in-house programs to extend our interpretive capabilities allowing us to give better evaluations to clients. Several industry clients have benefited from both customized programming and use of our database.
  • SQL Databases and Data Services

GFA and our partners offers extensive experience with SQL, databases, system architecture, data conversion, data management, data planning, and best practices for small to mid-size projects and clients.
