Powder River Basin Coal Bed Methane
Goolsby, Finley, and Associates, LLC. currently maintains a database with coal bed and conventional formation tops.
- 105,000 coal tops and bases from more than 20,000 wells.
- Notations on several thousand more wells (i.e. "not logged over interval", "no coal", etc.)
- Most of the coal seams have been correlated regionally.
- Continuously updated as new data becomes available.
Goolsby, Finley, and Associates, LLC. also generates maps for many purposes. We can produce contour maps for intervals, formations, and/or coals for both evaluation purposes and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission hearings. In addition to lease areas, we have made Powder River Basin regional maps which encompass the entire Wyoming Portion of the Powder River Basin. All of these maps use well data that has been filtered to exclude wells that did not penetrate the complete section of coal and include:
- Total Logged Coal
- This map shows the total isopach of all coal seams, by setion
- Total Coal from Seams Greater than 20 feet
- This is similar to the Total Logged Coal map, but only includes the isopach of seams greater than 20 feet, by section
- Thickest Logged Coal
- This map is just like it sounds, the isopach of the thickest logged coal, by section.
- Gas in Place per 80 acres
- This map shows the POTENTIAL reserves per 80 acres, by section.
